Total Engagement PLL Style

Posted by norabrunner01 on March 18, 2015

Pretty Little Liars screams, “The Total Engagement Experience.” From hashtags and clothing lines to blogs and spin-off series, this show literally does it ALL. The content of the show spreads across all platforms and you can’t go to any social media site without finding someone that is talking about it.

It doesn’t surprise me that it was one of the most tweeted shows in 2013. If you watch the show, you know that different hashtags pop up throughout the broadcast that goes along with story line. Ranging from #PLL and #RIPMona to #bigAreveal, this show knows how to generate conversation among it’s viewers. Due to the talk about the show on social media sites, it has attracted new viewers that usually catch up on Netflix and then start watching the broadcast show during it’s weekly time.

Audience members love to argue about who “A” is and who can be trusted on the show. Viewers go as far as to digging into the novels that the show is based on to find out more. Girls are following blogs and expressing their thoughts on what is going on, on their social media platforms. I believe The Pretty Little Liars viewers believe that they are a Pretty Little Liar and the network has taken full advantage of this by creating a spin-off series, Ravenswood. Pretty Little Liars fans also always talk about the wardrobe of the show almost every episode. They obsess over it and always want the clothes that are being worn. I believe this talk led to the relationship the show has with Aeropostle and it’s Pretty Little Liars clothing line.

This show is the total engagement experience. It creates the bridge for fans of the show to use between each broadcast always leading them back to the show week after week after week. I mean, have we found out who A is yet?
