ComiXology Paying Bounties for New Website Customers

For years, Amazon has had a referral fee program, where an associate can share links to products. (I use it at this site to make a minimal amount to cover hosting fees and similar costs.) If those links are used to buy, then the associate gets a small cut. They also pay fees for signing up new customers to certain programs. For example, right now associates are getting $3 per person who signs up for Amazon Prime or tries Amazon Mom, while anyone who tries Audible is worth $5.

Now, since ComiXology is owned by Amazon, they’re trying something similar. Their Refer-a-Friend program will pay $5 (in site credit) per new site user. The nice twist on this is that the new user gets a $5 coupon. The hook is that they have to spend at least $10.

Here’s my referral link, if you want a $5 coupon and have never signed up for the site before. I’m not sure how many people are still in that category, actually, given how many free comic giveaways ComiXology has launched in the past. Anyone with an existing account doesn’t qualify for the bounty, remember. If that’s the case, clicking a referral link will pop a message that says “Sorry! You are unable to participate in this offer.”

The fine print says Amazon “will determine in our sole discretion whether your link was used to create the account” and “whether the customer is a new customer”. And the following states can’t participate: Arkansas, Colorado, Maine, Missouri, Vermont, or Rhode Island.
