Titan’s Sherlock Manga Series Continues

Titan Comics is continuing to translate and publish the manga adaptations of the BBC’s Sherlock TV show episodes. The first half of “A Scandal in Belgravia”, the first episode of the second season, was serialized from 2019-2020 and collected in Oct 2020. (If you missed getting it, it is currently listed for reorder at your local comic shop this month under Diamond code MAY22 1791.) Part two begins serialization in August. (Part one ran five issues, so I assume this [...]

Watson and Holmes Returns in Mutiny Magazine

We live in an era where nothing is dead forever. Brand awareness is so difficult to develop, with so many things demanding our attention, that anything that was somewhat successful has a chance to come back. Which means I shouldn’t be surprised that Watson and Holmes, the urban comic version of the classic characters, has a new story coming out! But I am very pleased. This is one of my favorite takes on the character in comics. We last saw [...]

ComicMix to Publish Lost Seuss Stories

This is a bit devious. Last year, ComicMix ended up settling a lawsuit brought by the Dr. Seuess estate. That decision prohibited them from publishing Oh, The Places You’ll Boldly Go!, a Kickstarted Seuss/Star Trek mashup. A judge had previously ruled that such combinations are not parodic or transformative. Apparently, as part of that lawsuit, research was done on the Seuss copyrights. Now ComicMix is crowdfunding The Zaks and Other Lost Stories, a collection of six stories now in the [...]

Flung Out of Space: Inspired by the Indecent Adventures of Patricia Highsmith

Flung Out of Space: Inspired by the Indecent Adventures of Patricia Highsmith is an impressively good comic. Which is funny, because much of the book shows us Ms. Highsmith writing comics and hating it. Yet this story of some of her life is easily one of the best graphic novels of the year. Highsmith was a lesbian but despised herself for it. She smokes but says she’s quitting. She writes comics but refuses to put her name on them, calling [...]

More Enola Holmes Comics Coming

As pointed out by Craig Shutt, the upcoming Enola Holmes: The Graphic Novels, graphic novel versions of the Nancy Springer books adapted by Serena Blasco, has a sequel available at Amazon. That means three more comic book versions of the girl detective! Book 2 is due out in October, containing The Case of the Peculiar Pink Fan, The Case of the Cryptic Crinoline, and The Case of the Baker Street Tube Station. Interestingly, those titles match volumes 4-6 of the [...]

SherlockComics.Com on the I Hear of Sherlock Everywhere Podcast

I was thrilled to be invited to talk about my history with comics and specifically Sherlock Holmes in Comics on the latest episode of the I Hear of Sherlock Everywhere podcast. We also talk about how I became a Sherlock fan, this year’s 221B Con, why I started the site, whether Sherlock is a superhero, and what I’ll be talking about this weekend at the DePaul Pop Culture Conference, “A Celebration of Sherlock Holmes”.
